AEONIUM

This page was last modified on Monday, April 19, 2010

 Aeonium arboreum v. atropurpureum 'Schwarzkopf'

Aeonium leucoblepharum

Something Peculiar - I successfully rooted some Aeonium cuttings last year and had put three of them out on our covered patio, but one morning I discovered that they'd been got at - by a couple of large snails I found lurking on the underside of the bench, and promptly sentenced to hard labour on the moss down the bottom of the garden.
I'm reluctant to chuck things out, but a couple of weeks later we were tidying up for visitors coming and I decided it was time for the mangled aeoniums to go in the green bin, but when I picked them up, I noticed they were starting to sprout tiny rosettes of new leaves down the stem. I presume the snails had destroyed the dominant growing tip, and this allowed these side shoots to develop. Above is what they look like now - I'll give updates on their progress.

...... and below is the same plant 4 months later on... quite a recovery
